20 April 2007
AGE-NC Project No . 95-0167
3 .7 , SVE PILOT TEST AND RESULTS
An 8-hour SVE pilot test will be conducted at the site. The SVE pilot test will be performed to
provide vapor extraction data for feasibility analysis for the proper design ofthe remediation system.
The data will be used to determine the area of influence, the approximate mass of contamination
removed and the necessity for additional extraction points.
The SVE pilot test specifications are presented in Section 4.4. 1 . .
3 . 8 . PREPARATION OF REPORT OF FINDINGS
Following well installation and performance of feasibility tests, a report will be prepared presenting
the findings. The report will include a description of work performed and the results of: 1 ) soil
sampling and analysis, 2) the ground water extraction tests and 3) the SVE pilot test.
Conclusions and recommendations will also be included in the reports, if applicable. The report will
be in a format acceptable to the EHD and the CVRWQCB, and will be reviewed and signed by a
California Professional Geologist.
4.0. FIELD PROCEDURES
All field procedures will be overseen by anAGE representative under the supervision of a California
Professional Geologist. Procedures for well installation, development and soil/ground water
feasibility pilot testing procedures are described below.
4. 1 . SOIL SAMPLING
The pilot borings will be advanced using a CME-75HT drill rig equipped with 12-inch diameter
hollow-stem augers to advance borings EW- 1 and VW- 1 and 84nch hollow stem augers to advance
boring OBW- 1 . Cuttings and rinseate generated during drilling activities will be containerized in
properly labeled Department of Transportation (DOT)-approved 55-gallon drums and stored on-site
in an area lacking public access. Disposal alternatives will be evaluated based on results of soil and
water analysis.
Soil encountered in the pilot borings for VW- 1 and OBW- I will be collected at 5 foot intervals
using a California modified split-spoon sampler fitted with three 24nch diameter, 64nch long brass
sleeves. Following sample collection, the exposed ends of the leading or other selected sleeve will
be labeled with the boring location, depth, time, date and sampler' s initials; the appropriately sealed
Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc.
