(AGE) advanced three soil
' probings at 517 West Fremont Street in Stockton, California. The location of the site is illustrated
in Figure 1 - Location Hap. A plan of the site is illustrated on Figure 2 - Site Plan.
BACKGROUND
In September 1989, one 1,000-gallon underground storage tank (UST), dispenser and piping was
removed from the site. Petroleurn hydrocarbons were detected in soil samples collected from the
UST excavation and dispenser areas at concentrations up to 700 parts per million (ppm).
PROCEDURES
Probings were advanced on 19 September 1995, using AGES Geoprobe 5400 probing unit equipped
with 1.125-inch probe rods. Probing P1 was advanced north of the former UST area; probing P2 was
advanced through near the center of the former UST excavation; and probing P3 was advanced near
the former dispenser location. Each probing was advanced to a depth of 25 feet below surface grade
(bsg).
Soil samples were collected frorn each probing at 5-foot intervals beginning at a depth of 5 feet (P 1
and P3) or 10 feet (1`2) using a Geoprobe soil sampling assembly and four brass sleeves. After
collection, the ends of the second brass sleeve were covered with Teflon sheets, capped and sealed
AArith tape.
