Box 388
Stockton, CA 95201--0388
Ref : Valley Showcase, 913 W. Fremont St. , Stockton
Dear Steve;
I received a copy of your recent letter dated August 8 , requiring
a proposal for the next phase of work at the above site . At the
time the report was submitted to your office, I had not had the
opportunity to meet with my client and discuss the project. As
you are aware, there are two (2 ) issues involved; contaminated
soil & impacted groundwater. It is not feasible to address both
of those projects with one workplan, and it was necessary to sit
down and go over the various aspects of the problem with the
owner.
That meeting has been held, and it has been decided that the
first priorty is the removal of as much additional contaminated
spoil as possible to avoid further leaching into the water table_
This will also allow the filling of the excavation after the work
to allow the owner to have use of that portion of the property.
However, I will be unable to comply with the Sept. 9 deadline
for submitting an addendum. I have fieldwork scheduled for
August 22, 23 , & 24 , meetings with clients on the 26th, & have to
prepare for giving a deposition in San Leandro on the 29th. On
August 31 , I am leaving on vacation until September 11th. There-
fore, I am requesting an extension until the end September 30 to
prepare & "submit a workplan for further excavation. After that
work is completed & the results analyzed, I will submit a pro-
posal for placing an additional monitoring well in a downgradient
position.
We will continue quarterly monitoring of the existing wells as
usual; if MW-1 & MW-3 do not reveal any contamination in the next
testing period, we will only sample #2 . If however, either of
those 2 wells show "hits, " we will continuing sampling them.
1
