Personnel will wash their hands with soap and water prior to inserting <br /> ear plugs to avoid initiating ear infections. <br /> 5.4 UNDERGROUND UTILITIES <br /> rDames & Moore will attempt to locate allunderground utility locations <br /> U <br /> prior to the commencement of drilling [excavatingl] activities. Resources include <br /> site plans, utility companies, and Underground Services Alert (USA) or its <br /> regional equivalent. [In California, USA must becontacted at least two, but not <br /> more than fourteen, days prior to excavating or drilling on public property <br /> (i.e. , streets, sidewalks, etc).] <br /> The deactivation of utilities should be certified by the proper utility <br /> co pany personnel, and the certification retained in: the permanent log. <br /> C <br /> 5.5 WORK AREA PROTECTION <br /> As the project operations will be undertaken in a roadway, motor vehicles <br /> may be a hazard. Guidance on properly coningand flagging the work area is <br /> located in the Attachments along with a site diagram which follows the guidelines <br /> set forth by the City of Merced Traffic Control Division when working in the <br /> 't <br /> roadway. Consideration should be given to parking a work vehicle within the <br /> coned area between the work area and on-coming traffic. <br /> 5.6 HAZARD COMMUNICATION <br /> Materials which are considered hazardous materials under the OSHA Hazard j <br /> Communication Standard may be used during this 'project for decontamination or I <br /> equipment calibration purposes. In accordance with the Dames & Moore Hazard <br /> Communication Program, the MSDSs for the hazardous materials listed below are <br /> g , <br /> included in the attachments.
