5.0 Personal Protective Equipment and Engineering Controls
a
PPE will be worn during all field activities. The specifications for the levels of PPE that may be
L I
required and the initial levels of PPE are presented below. Based on.actual field conditions and
on-site monitoring activities, modification in the PPE may be required. Modifications may
,
include PPE upgrades to a higher degree of protection, downgrades, or substitutions such as use
of engineering controls. The SSHO may modify the initial levels of PPE in response to
additional site information, with the approval of the SHM. The initial selection of PPE is based
on a hazard assessment, including a review of the existing analytical data and related
toxicological information and the proposed activities. Based o'' this analysis, field sampling
activities shall be initiated using Modified Level D.
1' 5.1 Levels of Protection ,
3 L
a Personnel working within the Exclusion Zone shall be require4 to wear, as a minimum
Modified Level D.
