24 October 2005
AGE-NC Project No. 98-0500
HU6 - 150 feet
TPH-g was detected in deep wells MW-36, MW-39 and MW-42.
TPH-stoddard and TPH-d were not detected in the HU6 ground water samples. BTEX compounds
were not detected in the HU2 wells.
The fuel additive 1,2-DCA was detected in samples MW-34, MW-36, MW-39 and MW-44 at a
maximum concentration of 250 µg/l (MW-39).
Analytical results of the ground water samples are summarized in Table 4. The laboratory reports
(CTEL 0808184, 0509002 and 0509003),QA/QC reports and chain of custody forms are presented
in Appendix F. GeoTracker submittal confirmation sheets are presented in Appendix G.
5.0. CONCLUSIONS
The findings from the third quarter 2005 events are as follows:
• The mass of hydrocarbons removed by the SVE system demonstrated successful remediation;
a total of 1667 lbs or volume of 266 gallons were removed over a one-quarter period, based
on analysis of soil-vapor samples and SVE system operational parameters.
• The ground water elevation at the site has decreased 7.3 feet over a one-quarter period.
• The shallow ground water (HU 1) inferred flow direction was generally east at the former
UST location; deeper ground water (HU3/4 and HU6) also flowed east.
• TPH-g was detected in seven of the ten ground water samples analyzed;TPH-diesel was only
detected in the shallow well HU1 wells MW-1 and MW-2; the highest concentration was
detected in shallow well MW-1 at the former dispenser area. TPH-stoddard was detected
only in well MW-18 at the western edge of the site. The TPH plume is defined.
• The highest concentrations of BTEX compounds were detected in the samples from wells
on three sides of the dispenser area(MW-1,MW-2,MW-3 and MW-7). low concentrations
of BTEX compounds were again detected in the samples from wells MW-8 west of the
dispenser area. The BTEX plume is defined.
• The only fuel additive detected was 1,2-DCA. 1,2-DCA was detected in a total of twenty four
ground water samples collected from six of the designated hydrogeologic units across the
site; the highest concentration of 1,2-DCA was detected in well MW-39 (HU6)at 250 µg/1.
The estimated lateral extent and distributions of dissolved 1,2-DCA in three of the main
hydrologic unit are shown on Figures 6,7 and 8.
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
