Inc. will approach al-1 tank <br /> excaval.tons with possible cave-ins. The following rules will be <br /> followed to prevent any mishaps. <br /> 1 . Soil to be inspected for stability before and after tank is <br /> removed. <br /> 2 . Soil. is to be kept at least two feet from the edge of an excavatic�nS . <br /> 3 . if excavation is five (5) feet or more, the hole shall be tapered, <br /> braced , or other equivalent methods shall be used to prevent <br /> possible cave-ins. Precautions will be taken at all times . <br /> At the job site, clean fill will be used to backfill empty hole after <br /> soil. samples have been taken by California Water Lab, 1430 Carpenter <br /> Lane, Modesto, Calif. 95351 (209) 527-4050. <br /> Soil. samples will be excvated using backhoe. Samples will be taken <br /> two (2) feet to four (4) feet by hand, using brass tubes. All of <br /> the above procedures will be done according to code. Any part not <br /> backfilled , shall be barricaded and caution tape will be used. <br /> NOTES 'rank hole will be filled completely as soon as soil samples <br /> are taken do to the possible traffic hazards. <br /> Stockton Service Station Equipment will use proper equipment for each <br /> tank removal . No undersize or bad mechanical equipment will be used. <br /> All heavy equipment will be support properly. Tanks are to be secured <br /> at the assigned location after extraction. <br /> Stockton Service Station Equipment will provide safety hats, goggles , <br /> and clothing to employees at the job site as per OSIlA regulation 29 <br /> CFI? 1910, 120. Caution will be noted that a heat stress situation may <br /> develop when impermeable protective clothing is worn. <br /> Crane operator and equipment will be observed at all times and discussed <br /> during safety meeting. <br /> Continued on page three <br /> y <br />
