SOIL SUITABILITY STUDY
Introduction
Live Oak Geo Environmental, Inc. (Live Oak) was contracted by Taj Khan of the
California Islamic Center to conduct a Soil Suitability Study and Nitrate Loading Study
for the property located at 12882 North Lower Sacramento Road, Lodi, California (Plate
1).
The Soil Suitability Study and Nitrate Loading Study are combined under this report
cover and presented as two sections of this report. The formatting of the report has
been designed to follow the recommendations of the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department as described in its Soil Suitability Study
Requirements Checklist and Nitrate Loading Study Requirements Checklist.
The Soil Suitability Study and Nitrate Loading Study were conducted to determine
whether the soils are suitable for use with a septic system, as well as to estimate if the
use of septic systems will impact ground water quality. The study was performed
according to the requirements of Section 9-1105.2(d) of the San Joaquin County
Development code.
A previous study entitled Groundwater Analytical Test Results, Percolation Test
Results, and Nitrate Loading Study Reports was completed for the Site by Technical
Studies, Inc (TEST) in July 2010. The current report relies on field work information
from the 2010 study, portions of which have been included for reference in Appendix 4.
Proposed Development
According to the Use Permit application on file with the San Joaquin County Community
Development Department, the proposed project involves the expansion of an existing
religious assembly (Plate 2): "The project will include the construction of a 4,680 square
foot addition to the existing worship building, and the construction of a 640 square foot
storage building."
Site Description
The Site is defined as Assessor's Parcel Number (APN) 058-070-23, 18.54 acres in
size. The Site is located at 12882 North Lower Sacramento Road, Lodi. The address
of 12828 is also associated with the Site: it is an old address for one of the houses.
A religious assembly building and two houses currently exist on the Site. The
remainder of the property is agricultural land maintained by the California Islamic
Center. A domestic well serves the assembly building, and a second domestic well
LOGE 1939 Page 1
