NATOFirst Quarter 2012 Status Summary Report
Former Tosco Bulk Terminal No.10013
April 30,2012
• BTEX by EPA Method 826013;
' • TPH-d ,TPH-g by EPA Method 8015M;
• Oxygenates including MTBE, di-isopropyl ether (DIPE), tert-amyl methyl ether (TAME),
TBA, ethyl tert-butyl ether (ETBE), methanol, and ethanol by EPA Method 826013-
Modified.
Groundwater Analytical Results
' The field groundwater quality parameters recorded for the wells that were gauged, purged and
sampled during the First Quarter 2012 monitoring event are listed on the Field Data Sheets in
' Attachment D.
The groundwater analytical results for the sampled monitoring wells are presented in Table 2.
' The analytical laboratory report and chain-of-custody documents are provided in Attachment E.
Historical groundwater monitoring results are provided in Table 3. Isocontour maps for MTBE,
TBA, TPH-g and TPH-d for the First Quarter 2012 are included as Figures 6, through 20.
Historical groundwater elevations and constituent concentration trend graphs for wells sampled
are illustrated in Attachment F.
Reported concentrations of constituents were compared with the analytical results from the
previous quarters with the following results:
' • TPH-g and BTEX concentrations continue to remain at low to non-detectable levels
since the previous quarter.
• TPH-d concentrations reported this quarter show typical seasonal fluctuations.
Concentrations increased in monitoring wells MW-2, MW-3, MW-4, MW-8, MW-11, MW-
16, MWA8C, MW-20, MW-21 B, and MW-22C, and decreased or remained the same in
' monitoring wells MW-1, MW-9, MW-14, MW-15, MW-17B, MW-19C,
• MTBE concentrations continue to remain consistently at low or non-detectable levels.
' • TBA concentrations reported this quarter show typical seasonal fluctuations. There was
a decrease in monitoring wells MWA, MW-16, and MW-18C, and an increase in
monitoring wells MW-9 and MW-20. TBA was reported as less than the laboratory
reporting limit in the remaining wells sampled during the First Quarter 2012.
Quality Control Data Review
A quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) review was performed for sample integrity and
analytical methods in the laboratory. Laboratory and field QC sample results were evaluated to
assess the quality of individual sample results and overall method performance. The QA/QC
review included an evaluation of the following:
4
