5.4 Personal Protective t e Equipment <br /> Based upon the job hazard analysis and prior analytical data, it is expected that project <br /> personnel will utilize Level D protective clothing for most excavation and sampling activities <br /> Modified Level D or Level C protective clothing may be required for certain tasks depending <br /> upon the levels of contaminants as measured at the time (see Table 3) Level C protective <br /> clothing may be required during activities involving the handling of dry grouting materials, <br /> due to the potential for high levels of nuisance dust If conditions warrant higher levels of <br /> protection, site work will be suspended until such conditions can be rectified. Specific <br /> requirements for personal protective equipment (PPE) to be used during confined space entry <br /> will be specified in the HASP Addendum No loose clothing, jewelry or unrestrained long <br /> hair which may catch on equipment or protuberances shall be permitted during field activities <br /> 5.1 Levels of Protection <br /> 5.1.1 Level D <br /> The minimum level of protective equipment to be worn on site during this project is. <br /> - Hard hat, American National Standards Institute (ANSI) approved <br /> - Safety glasses or goggles, ANSI approved <br /> - Steel-toed boots or shoes, ANSI approved <br /> - Long pants and long-sleeved shit <br /> Where noise levels exceed 85 dBA hearing protection with a U S EPA NRR of at least 25 <br /> dBA shall be used <br /> 5.1.1.1 Modified Level D <br /> Within the designated contaminated areas or during sample collection, the following <br /> additional protective equipment is required when contact with wet product is probable <br /> - Steel-toed impermeable boots, ANSI approved <br /> Nitrile or other impermeable gloves <br /> MWI1-29-94/RHS/HA.SP/94-0037 JAF 5-1 <br />�A <br />
