Fremont Street <br /> Stockton, California <br /> Project No. 989.2 <br /> March 29, 2004 <br /> 1.0 INTRODUCTION <br /> Valley Wholesale Drug Company, Inc. (VWDC) is located at 1401 W. Fremont Street; <br /> Stockton, California. The property is located in the southwestern part of the City of <br /> Stockton, almost directly beneath I-5. The Stockton Deepwater Channel is approximately <br /> one block to the south, near,the terminus of Mormon Slough. <br /> Two (2) 1,000-gallon USTs were installed at the site in June of 1974. The tanks were'used <br /> to fuel both company and personal vehicles for business purposes. <br /> On June 8, 1,994, Thorpe Oil Company removed two (2) 1,000-gallon'USTs along with a <br /> fuel dispenser and associated piping, which had been used for storing and dispensing <br /> unleaded gasoline. There was a strong petroleum odor noted during,the excavation and <br /> removal of the tanks as well as soil discoloration. <br /> In October of 1994, approximately 128 cubic yards of contaminated soil.,was removed from <br /> the site and disposed of at a licensed landfill. Soil samples were taken and the hole was <br /> filled with clean material, and capped with asphalt. Details of the,.work are discussed.in. <br /> William J. Hunter & Associates (Hunter et al.) report: Interim Report Covering Results of <br /> Soil Contamination Investigation Valley Wholesale Drugs—January 3; 1995. <br /> The William J. Hunter & Associates report: Interim Report Covering Results of Soil <br /> Contamination Investigation Valley Wholesale Drugs — October 1.1, 1995 discusses the <br /> installation of three (3) monitoring wells and three (3) soil borings at the site. <br /> In an attempt to further define the limits of soil and groundwater contamination three (3) <br /> GeoProbe borings were placed on the site on August 25, 1998. The results of the work are <br /> outlined in the William J. Hunter & Associates report: Interim Report Covering Results of , <br /> Site Investigation: Placement of Soil/Water Probes— September 28, 1998. <br />
