Quik Stop Station No 039 February 28,2000 <br /> Stockton California Subsurface Site Assessment <br /> Drilling and Soil Sampling <br /> On November 18, 1999, a Horizon geologist observed the drilling of soil bonngs MW-1, <br /> MW-2, and MW-3 The borings were drilled and sampled using a truck-mounted Mobile <br /> B-61 drill rig equipped with 8-inch diameter hollow-stem augers Drilling and sampling <br /> activities were performed by V&W Drilling (V&W), a C-57 licensed contractor from Rio <br /> Vista, California <br /> Borings MW-1, MW-2, and MW-3 were advanced to depths of approximately 61 to 61% <br /> feet During drilling, soil samples were collected from the borings at five-foot intervals or <br /> less, from the ground surface to the total depth of each boring Soil samples and cuttings <br /> were screened for the presence of petroleum hydrocarbon vapors with a portable organic <br /> vapor meter (OVM) The OVM readings noted during drilling were recorded on the soil <br /> bonng logs, which contain soil descriptions and well completion data (Appendix C) All <br /> soil samples were contained in chilled storage for transport to the laboratory for the <br /> requested analyses <br /> Sediments encountered during the drilling of the three borings consisted of alternating layers <br /> of silty sand (SM) and clayey to sandy silt (ML) to the total depth of the borings at <br /> approximately 61 to 611/2 feet bsg The sediments from the borings were classified using <br /> the Unified Soil Classification System (USCS) A copy of the USCS is shown on the <br /> Boring Log Symbol Key in Appendix C Groundwater was encountered in the borings at <br /> depths of approximately 55 feet bsg <br /> Soil cuttings generated during the drilling operations were stockpiled on and covered with <br /> plastic and remained onsite until subsequent disposal in late December 1999 The soil <br /> cuttings were screened with an OVM, and four soil samples were collected from the <br /> stockpile for laboratory analysis <br /> 7039-12 rpt 4 HORIZON ENVIRONMENTAL INC <br />
