Project No. 013-10101
Page No. 5
• During drilling of the proposed borings, the drill cuttings (soil) will be subjectively analyzed for
odor and discoloration. Additionally, the soil will be field-screened with a portable PID
calibrated to 100-ppm isobutylene. No drill cuttings will be produced during this assessment.
• Soil samples will be obtained by means of a split-spoon Modified California Sampler containing
three 6-inch-long by 1.5-inch-diameter stainless steel liners or 18-inch-long by 1.125-inch
diameter acetate liners. Once collected, the ends of each sample liner will be covered with
Teflon& film, capped with plastic end caps, labeled, placed into a plastic bag, sealed, and then
placed into a thermal chest cooled with ice for delivery to a state-certified analytical laboratory.
• Soil sampling will be conducted in accordance with Appendix C of the March 1998 version of the
Leaking Underground Fuel Tank (LUFT) Field Manual published by the State of California
Water Resources Control Board.
• Equipment used for the advancing of soil borings and collection of soil samples will be
decontaminated (steam-cleaned, TSP, lab grade detergents, etc.) before arriving on site, between
each boring and/or sampling interval, and before leaving the site each day, or as deemed
necessary by the Krazan field engineer to reduce the chances of cross-contamination. The
decontamination fluids (rinsate) will be temporarily contained in DOT-approved steel 55-gallon
sealable drums. The rinsate will be stored on the subject site, pending the results of the chemical
analyses, and will be disposed by LNAS within 90 days following material generation as deemed
warranted by sample analytical results. Krazan is not the generator of the rinstate and is not
responsible for its proper disposal. Krazan can assist in the proper disposal of impacted rinsate,
if any.
• Field work would be conducted by individuals meeting Occupational Safety and Health
Administration requirements for hazardous waste work including 40-hour health and safety
training and medical monitoring. The work would be completed under the standards set forth by
the industry and deemed acceptable by various regulatory agencies. Hard hats, protective
eyewear, steel-toe boots, protective clothing, and respiratory devices will be worn by Krazan
personnel when deemed appropriate by the field engineer present.
• Selected soil will be analyzed for the constituents of concern and analytical methods noted below.
KRAZAN&ASSOCIATES,INC.
Conducting Assessments Nationwide
1310101 United Rentals Workplan
