r
r
A & A TOOL RENTALS
. 2911 East Fremont Street, Stockton, California
r
Phase II Report of fyndings,
Tank and Line Area Re-Excavation
1.0 SITE HISTORY
On April 1, 1992, two (2) underground storage tanks were removed from A & A Tool
Rentals located at 2911 East Fremont Street, in Stockton, California. Tank #2 was a
1,000 gallon diesel tank and Tank #S was a 1,000 gallon kerosene tank.
Contamination was found at the north end of the diesel tank and also at the piping #2
location. See Figure 2 for location of piping and Appendix B for laboratory data. All
other samples taken were "none detected" for all compounds, at the time of the tank
removal.
2.0 SUMMARY OF FINDINGS
-- On August 31, 1992, WHF Environmental Consultants, Inc., submitted a workplan
requesting a site investigation using a drill rig, and taking soil borings. On October 7,
1992, an amended workplan for the site was submitted to the San Joaquin County
Department of Health Services, Environmental Health Division. The amended work
plan requested re-excavation be allowed instead of soil borings. Permission was
— granted, and on October 8, 1992, re-excavation of the former tank and fuel line areas
was performed.
On site was Ross Grunwald, registered geologist, with WHF Environmental
Consultants, Inc., and Mr. Steve Schneider with the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department Oversight Program. Re-excavation was
L accomplished using an excavator. The former tank area was excavated to a depth of
seventeen feet eight inches (17' 8") in the Northwest wall of the former excavation. In
addition, the entire fuel line trench was re-excavated, as it was discovered that
contaminated soils from the previous excavation work was used as backfill in the
trench. Using a photo ionization detector, samples were pre-screened on site, prior to
obtaining verification samples.
L
