18 November 1999
AGE-NC Project No. 97-0327
Page 4 of 9
• Ground water sample collection
• Receptor survey;
• Preparation of a report of findings.
3.1. PERMITTING AND PRE-FIELD WORK ACTIVITIES
Applicable site assessment permits will be obtained from the PHS-EHD. In addition, an update to
the health and safety plan presently on file will be prepared in accordance with Occupational Safet},
_ and Health Guidance Manual for Hazardous Waste Site Activities (National Institute for
Occupational Safety and Health Administration, U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency, 1985). Prior to mobilization, each monitoring well location will be clearly
marked and a utility clearance obtained through Underground Service Alert.
3.2. DRILLING AND SOIL SAMPLE COLLECTION
AGE proposes to install three ground water monitoring Nvells at the site as part of site assessment
- activities. Proposed well locations are illustrated in Figure 2.
Based on soil and ground water contamination encountered beneath the former UST area, AGE
proposes ground water monitoring well installations in the following locations:
• Between 15 and 25 feet southeast of boring P-8 to assess adsorbed and dissolved petroleum
hydrocarbon concentrations upgradient of the UST area,
• Between 20 and 30 feet southwest of boring P-6 to assess the extent of adsorbed and
dissolved petroleum hydrocarbons crossgradient of the UST area,
• Between 10 and 20 feet north-northeast of boring P-7 to assess the extent of adsorbed and
dissolved petroleum hydrocarbons down-gradient the former UST area;
The proposed ground water monitoring well locations will be advanced to approximately 70 feet bsg
utilizing a truck-mounted, hollow stem drill rig. Total depths of borings may vary according to
hydrogeologiclgeologic conditions encountered during drilling activities.
Selected soil samples will be analyzed by a State of California Department of Health Services
(DHS)-certified laboratory for the following constituents:
• TPH-g and TPH-d in accordance with EPA Method 8015 Modified/5030;
Advanced GeoEnvironmental.Inc.
