18 November 1999
AGE-NC Project No. 97-0327
Page 5 of 9
• BTEX compounds and methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE) in accordance with EPA Method
8020; and
• Fuel oxygenated compounds including MTBE, TBA, DIPS, ethyl tertiary-butyl ether
(ETBE) and tertiary-amyl methyl ether (TAME) by EPA Method 8260 Modified.
Laboratory reports for the soil analyses,testing methods, laboratory quality assurance/quality control
(QA/QC) reports, and sample chain of custody documentation will be presented in a report with
findings and recommendations.
3.3. MONITORING WELL INSTALLATION AND DEVELOPMENT
Three ground water monitoring wells will be installed at the site to further assess petroleum
hydrocarbon impacts to soil and shallow ground water. Proposed monitoring well locations are
illustrated on Figure 2. Well locations are proposed to provide definition of the lateral and vertical
extent of adsorbed and dissolved petroleum hydrocarbons. Monitoring of the wells should provide
data to determine if the dissolved plume is migrating or stable.
Following well installation activities, each well will be developed to maximize water flow and
minimize the amount of fine-grained sediment drawn into the well during pumping or bailing.
.. Procedures for well installation and development are presented in Sections 4.3 and 4.4, respectively.
w 3.4. GROUND WATER SAMPLE COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS
Ground water monitoring and sampling activities for each newly installed ground water monitoring
— well will be conducted on a quarterly basis unless an alternate schedule or suspension of monitoring
is approved by the PHS-EHD. Ground water monitoring activities will include recording depth to
ground water measurements and collection of ground water samples. Ground water sample collection
procedures are described in Section 4.6.
Ground water samples will be analyzed by a DHS-certified Iaboratory for the following constituents:
• TPH-g and TPH-d by EPA Method 8015 Modified/5030;
• BTEX compounds and MTBE by EPA Method 602;
• MTBE, DIPE, TAME, ETBE and TBA by EPA Method 8260.
Advanced GeoErniron mental.Inc.
