c
07 April 2000
AGE-NC Project No. 97-0327
Ground water monitoring data collected in the area of wells MW-1 through MW-3 indicated that the
ground water flow direction was generally toward the southwest at a gradient of 0.001 ft/ft, or
aapproximately 5 feet per mile (Figure 3).
s' 3.2. LABORATORY RESULTS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES
A total of three ground water samples were submitted to a DHS-certified laboratory in February
' 2000. TPH-g was detected in water samples collected from wells MW-1 and MW-2 at concentrations
ranging as high as 68 micrograms per liter (,uo); TPH-d was detected in samples collected from
wells MW-1, MW-2 and MW-3 at concentrations as high as 230 ,ug/l.
BTEX compounds were detected in ground water samples collected from wells MW-1 and MVV-2
at concentrations as high as 1.6,ugn (xylene, MW-2). Benzene was only detected in the water sample
collected from MW-2 at a concentration of 0.5 ,ug/1.
MTBE was detected in ground water samples utilizing EPA Method 8020 from wells MW-1 and
' MW-2 at concentrations as high as 2 µgll; MTBE was detected in a ground water sample from
MW-1 utilizing EPA Method 8260 at a concentration of 3.7 yg/l.
TBA w detected in ground water samples collected from wells MW-1 and MW-3 at concentrations
B as deter e gr p
of 61 ugll and 14 ,ug/l, respectively. No other fuel oxygenated compounds were detected from the
laboratory analysis.
Analytical results of the ground water samples are summarized in Table 2. The laboratory reports
.' (Castle Analytical Laboratory Reference No. 2814 and McCampbell Analytical Inc. Lab I.D. 30786
through 30788) and chain-of-custody forms are presented in Appendix B.
4.0. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION'S
' The implications from the findings of the February 2000 investigation are:
r, • _ ,Ground ,water„monitoring data collected in the,area_of wellsMW-1, MW-2,and MW-3__
indicated a ground water flow direction generally toward the southwest at a gradient of 0.001
ft/ft.
' Due to the low gradient at the site, slight variations in ground water measurements or
changes of recharge/discharge of the local ground water could greatly modify ground water
flow direction.
Advanced GeoEnviroomental,Inc.
}t'
