Glossary <br /> OF <br /> REFERENCE TERMS <br /> Grab sample A single water sample drawn all at one given time. As a result, <br /> the sample is not representative of long-term conditions or <br /> concentrations at the sampling site. This type of sampling <br /> yields data that provides a snapshot of conditions or <br /> concentrations at a particular point in time. <br /> Graduated cylinder A cylinder that is used to measure a <br /> quantity of liquid. 't <br /> Hazardous energy Any energy source that has a potential to <br /> source be dangerous to the user of that source. <br /> Hazardous substance Any material that poses a threat to human AL - <br /> health and/or the environment. Graduated cylinder <br /> Hot work Any construction or maintenance procedure that requires heat <br /> or open flame to complete the procedure. <br /> IAF Induced Air Floatation —a process achieved by pressurizing a <br /> clean portion of effluent discharge water and recycling it back <br /> into the dirty influent. Microscopic air bubbles are produced <br /> and mixed with the wastewater containing suspended <br /> contaminates.
