(TSGI). The Workplan proposes the abandonment of three monitoring
wells (MW-1 through MW-3) remaining at the site. The groundwater analytical results for
MW-1 through MW-3 were non-detect for petroleum hydrocarbons when last sampled in
December 2006. The Workplan states the wells will be abandoned by pressure grouting at
approximately 150 lbs per square inch each well to 2' below grade, then removal of the traffic
boxes, and finally filling the resulting void with concrete to the surface. Soil cuttings and water
generated during well abandonment will be characterized and properly disposed, or reused
onsite as approved by Regional Board staff. A Well Destruction Report will follow within three
weeks of completion of fieldwork, and will include a summary of fieldwork, analytical data, and
permit / correspondence related to the Workplan.
The Workplan is consistent with the Work Scope and Budget Proposal, DGS EAR Account
Program, Buffalo Tank Corp, Stockton California, EAR Site No. R10-131 approved by me on
20 June 2011 , and is approved as necessary and appropriate to remove potential conduits to
the aquifer, and to facilitate case closure. Please provide the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department and myself with a minimum of 3 working days notice prior to
start of fieldwork, and contact me by phone at (916) 464-4614 or by email at
jbarton(awaterboards.ca.gov if you have questions or comments.
ames L.L.
