(AGE),requesting a 60-day extension for a report (Report) of an investigation
proposed in the 30 September 2003 Additional Site Investigation Work Plan (Workplan), to allow you to
procure funding for the work and give AGE time to schedule subcontractors. The Workplan, approved
with conditions by my letter of 8 October 2003, did not provide a deadline. Subsequently in my second
request letter for the Report, dated 29 December 2004, I gave a deadline of 15 February 2005.
The investigation is necessary to adequately characterize previously detected petroleum hydrocarbons in
soil from two former Underground Storage Tanks (USTs), and to determine whether contamination has
reached groundwater beneath the site. Prior to your purchase of the property, the USTs were owned and
operated by Stockton Manufacturing and Sales, and later operated and removed the Buffalo Tank
Corporation (a subsidy of the former Bethlehem Steel Inc.); both USTs manufacturers are now bankrupt.
I agree to your request one time for a 60-day extension past the 15 February 2005 due date. The Report
is now due 15 April 2005. If you have any questions, regarding this letter, you may contact me at
(916) 464-4615 or jbarton(a)waterboards.ca.gov.
A
✓James L.
