--- Stantec .,,
June 22,2009
Reference: Well Permit Application Packet
All soil borings will be advanced using direct push technology and utility clearance will include the
use of either a hand auger or a vacuum truck to air knife to a depth of five feet bgs. The soil
borings will be advanced to a depth of approximately 20 feet bgs. Due to the close proximity to a
future excavated area all soil borings will be backfilled with a 'bentonite slurry by a gravity feed
method to just below grade.
Monitoring wells MW1/132, MW-2, and MW-3 will be destroyed by using a drill rig to over-drill the
well to total depth and the entire well casing and well box will be removed. After the well box and
concrete apron are removed borings MW-2 and MW-3 will be filled with a neat cement grout
pumped through a tremie pipe from the bottom of the boring to just below grade. Due to the close
proximity to a future excavated area boring MW-1/B2.will be backfilled.with a bentonite slurry by a
gravity feed method to just 'below grade. All borings will then be capped with either concrete or soil
to match the existing surface grade.
The domestic water well will be destroyed by using a drill rig to remove the pump and drop pipe
from inside the well. Once the.casing is cleared both sides of the well casing will be perforated to
allow an adequate seal. After the well casing is properly perforated the well will be filled with a neat
cement grout pumped through a tremie pipe from the bottom of the boring to just below grade. The
well box and concrete apron will be removed and then capped with either concrete or soil to match
the existing surface grade.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding this permit application package, please feel free to
contact the undersigned at (916) 384-0752.
Sincerely,
Stantec.Consulting Corporation
Bryan Rorie
Project Scientist
Attachments:
April 24, 2009 Remedial Excavation Work Plan
May 22,2009 RWQCB Approval Letter
Well Permit Application (for six soil borings)
Well Permit Application (for destruction of three monitoring wells)
Well Permit Application (for destruction of one domestic water well)
I:\PG&E\French Camp\2009 remediation\Permits\Permit App Cvr Ur 6-9-09.doc .'
rte,'
