Ms. Anne Conner ( -2 22 May 2009
7 PG&E French Camp ✓ `
I
samples from each of the sidewalls at about three and eight feet bgs. If the confirmation soil
sampling indicates additional excavation is necessary, PG&E will over-excavate in that area
and collect additional confirmation soil samples from the floor and sidewalls.- Soil samples will
be compared to San Francisco Bay Regional Water Quality Control Board Environmental'.
Screening Levels (ESLs) for gross contamination. Once PG&E confirms that the cleanup
goals have been met, it will backfill the excavation and prepare a summary report and closure
request and send it to Central Valley.Water Board staff.
Central Valley Water Board staff concurs with the proposal to destroy Site monitoring wells,
destroy the onsite domestic well, drill soil borings, and excavate contaminated soil. PG&E
needs to communicate the soil results with Central Valley Water Board staff prior to backfilling
the excavation. In May 2007; monitoring well MW-1 had one detection of total petroleum
hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg) above water quality objectives, but four samples taken since
then were all non-detect. MW-1 had detections of TPH as diesel above water quality
objectives in May 2007 (850 micrograms per liter [pg/L]) and February 2008 (150 p/L), but two.
samples-since=then=were--be low water qu-aIity objective.s.-AI1-othermonitoring-weIIs,have been.;'. -
below water quality objectives for all constituents of concern during all monitoring events.
By 30 September 2009, PG&E needs to destroy the monitoring wells, destroy the domestic
well, drill the soil borings, excavate the contaminated soil, and submit a report of findings with
a request for Site closure.
If you have any questions regarding this letter, you may contact me at (916) 464-4819 or by
email at ksheltonCa--)waterboards.ca.gov.
KRISTI SHELTON
Water Resources Control Engineer
Aboveground Tanks.Cleanup Unit
cc: Mr. Michael Infurna, San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department, Stockton
Mr. Neil Doran, Stantec, Rancho Cordova
i
i
i
