Ms. Anne Conner - 2 - ) 30 December 2008
PG&E Frencr Camp
three of the borings at about 20 feet below ground surface at'maximum concentrations
of 620 milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg), 6,500 mg/kg, and 2,000 mg/kg, respectively.
These concentrations exceed the San Francisco Bay Regional Water Board
Environmental Screening Levels for gross contamination. Therefore, PG&E must either
clean up the remaining soil contamination or file a deed restriction on the property. By
27 February 2009, PG&E needs to either submit a work plan to clean up the remaining
soil contamination or inform Regional Water Board staff that it wants to close the Site
with a deed restriction. i
3. PG&E states that no petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in the grab groundwater
samples collected in April 2007 from borings 131 through B5, but the depth of these grab
groundwater samples is not in the report of findings of that investigation. By
27 February 2009, PG&E needs to provide the depths of the grab groundwater
samples collected in these borings.
4. In December 2008, PG&E sent Regional Water Board staff additional information on
the r-earby domestic wells. PG&E states that a water supply well about 1,200 feet
northwest of the Site has a history of contaminant violations and enforcement actions.
By 27 February 2009, PG&E needs to clarify who took enforcement actions against the
supply well and whether the history of contamination is related to activities at the Site.
In summary, by 27 February 2009, please submit clarification on the current use of the onsite
domestic well, a work plan to clean up the remaining soil contamination or PG&E's decision to,
file a deed restriction, the depth of the 2007 grab groundwater samples, and information on
the nearby domestic well.
