k" KLEI N FELDER
August 18, 1987
File: 24-2041-3
Mr. Richard Keffer
Senior Attorney
Pet Incorporated
400 South Fourth Street
St. Louis, MO 63102
SUBJECT: Pet/Progresso Foods Facility
Formerly Ogden Food Products Corporation
Dear Mr. Keffer:
This is the cost estimate proposal as of August 18, 1987 for the
implementation of the next phase of work at the Pet/Progresso Foods
Facility in Stockton, California. Based on the August 13, 1987 letter
from the California Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB) , it is
Kleinfelder's understanding that Mr. Robert Niblack of the RWQCB specified
to you two tasks to be completed at the site:
TASK 1 Collect a sample of the contaminated soil and analyze the sample
for priority pollutant volatile organics by EPA Method 8240 and
priority pollutant acid and base/neutrals organics by EPA Method
8270.
TASK 2 Collect monthly water level measurements from the three ground
water monitoring wells.
The methods for collecting and analyzing the soil and ground water samples
would be similar to the methods described in Kleinfelder's "Soil and
Ground Water Investigation" report dated April 8, 1987.
The estimated costs for completion of each task are as follows:
Task 1 $2,900*
Task 2 (per month) $ 340
Report Preparation $1,870
Estimated Total 55.110
* Assumes normal turnaround time for sample analysis, approximately
three weeks.
KLEINFELDER 9795 Business Park Drive, Suite C, Sacramento, CA 95827 (916) 366-1701
