Kleinfelder can complete the proposed scope of work for an estimated
$5,110. The actual costs for services will be based on time and materials
spent according to our 1987 Fee Schedule for Environmental Services. The
estimated cost will not be exceeded by more than 15% without proper cause,
documentation, and prior notification. Water level measurements will be
additionally charged each month.
The following items will be the responsibility of Pet Incorporated to
complete the scope of work:
o The location of all underground utilities and other subsurface
structures which could interfere with drilling operations or be
damaged during drilling will be identified by Pet Incorporated.
Failure to locate such lines or structures and responsibility for
any necessary corrective action or resulting damage will not be
the responsibility of Kleinfelder. Contact will be made with
Underground Services Alert (1-800-642-2444) to notify public
utility companies of our proposed operations.
o Power and water to operate a steam cleaner and an area onsite
where the hollow-stem augers can be steam cleaned. Steam
cleaning of the augers between borings is necessary to preclude
cross-contamination and sample bias.
o Disposition of soil and water generated from the field
activities. Soil cuttings will be placed on plastic, and water
generated from the wells will be containerized in 55-gallon
drums. The unused portion of the soil sample will be returned to
the site.
A copy of our standard environmental contract is attached for your
review. Receipt of both signed copies of the contract will serve as our
formal authorization to proceed.
We understand you are in direct contact with the RWQCB and they will be
sending you written comments on the submitted report. Please let us know
if there is any way we can help in moving the project forward. We
realize Pet's desire to proceed toward site remediation. If you have any
questions or need additional information, please do not hesitate to
contact us.
Sincerely,
INFELDER
Gregory Fletcher
Staff- Hydrogeologist
Kent E.
