page 2, 1817 Fresno Avenue
Clearwater proposes to begin collection of natural attenuation parameters (NAPS) during
routine quarterly groundwater monitoring events, and„to perform microbial analysis and
bench tests .. SJC/EHD approves the collection of NAPs. such as dissolved oxygen ,
nitrate , sulfate, methane and iron (II ) and the microbial enumeration studies for aerobic
bacteria. SJC/EHD believes NAPs should also e collected post-purge, as aquifer
conditions are-utprimary "interest. Water in the well casing prior to purging is obviously
in contact with the atmosphere and can be impacted by dirt, air, surface waters and
bacteria intruding from the surface. As has been noted in previous directive letters,
routine quarterly groundwater monitoring and sampling must continue at this site until
directed otherwise by SJC/EHD .
If you have any questions or comments please call Lori Duncan at (209) 468-0337 .
Donna Heran , RENS, Director
Environmental Health Department
14”17
Lori Duncan , Senior REHS Nuel C.
