Lori Duncan [EH]
From : Olivia Jacobs [OJacobs@cleanvatergroup.com]
Sent: Thursday, October 28, 2010 5:01 PM
To : Lori Duncan [EH]
Cc : Nuel Henderson [EH]; James Jacobs
i. Subject: RE: Barnes Trucking Facility Hydrogen Peroxide injection
II As you have seen from the feedback from the pipeline representatives , they are very
concerned about the chemicals not reaching their pipes .
During the process of writing the MRP , it became apparent that we had not planned for each
i. of the required monitoring wells to comply with their injection permit requ] rements .
Thus , the additional wells for observation . In addition , the three wells at the property
line can be used for extraction in the event that the sensors in those wells detect any
chemicals moving off the property .
Especially in light of the San Bruno disaster , I think we can predict that the pipeline
companies are going to be extremely defensive about their pipeline integrity .
j They are screened from the deepest that we are injecting , to the top of groundwater with
the intent to detect any of the injection chemicals right away from any of the impacted
zones . Since the objective is to clean up the site and then abandon them , in the near
term , their serving as a conduit , the end result should be considered a maximum benefit in
comparison to the possibility that they will act as conduits during the injection period ,
which we don ' t foresee lasting more than 3 months , at the maximum .
I hope this answers all of your concerns .
Olivia
- - - - -Original Message - - - - -
From : Lori Duncan [EH] [mailto : lduncan@slcehd . com]
Sent : Thursday , October 28 , 2010 4 : 21 PM
TO : Olivia Jacobs
y Cc : Nuel Henderson [EH]
9 Subject : RE : Barnes Trucking Facility Hydrogen Peroxide injection
Olivia ,
Why are there five additional groundwater monitoring wells on the maps in this document ?
Only one additional well was mentioned in the RAP , and no technical justification was
provided for it , much less five . Did the Regional Board request them?
I understand they are proposed to be five feet deeper than the existing wells , but they
are right next to and have overlapping screen intervals of from 15 - 20 with the existing
wells . What information is it you expect them to provide ?
Lori Duncan , Senior REHS
San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department
lduncan@sjcehd . com
( 209 ) 468 - 0337 phone
( 209 ) 468 - 3433 fax
- - - - -Original Message - - - - -
From : Olivia Jacobs [mailto : OJacobs@clearwatergroup . com]
Sent : Wednesday , October 27 , 2010 10 : 22 AM
To : Jim Barton ; Steve Cooper ; Ken Yeo ; Adrienne Ellsaesser [EH] ; Lori Duncan [ EHI ; Nuel
Henderson [EH]
Cc : James Eggenberger ; Jared DeVore ; Kelly Johnson ; Steve Osborn ; Steve Marositz
Subject : RE : Barnes Trucking Facility Hydrogen Peroxide injection
1
