The SWRCB has changed the requirement from 4 events per year, to 2
events per year. According to this change, the next sampling event would occur in or around September. Based
on the rebound sampling timing , October would be appropriate for the second sampling of the year.
Groundwater Monitoring Wells Sampled
AS-1 , MW-5B, MW-7, and MW-8 are the current wells which are sampled , since the number of wells has been
reduced .
Rebound sampling
We do plan on collecting samples after the full 6-month period is complete , in order to determine whether the
iSOC units should be re-installed or permanently removed . Collecting samples at the monitoring wells you have
indicated ("all site monitoring wells") after the 6-month period will provide important information to have on hand in
making this decision . This 'rebound" sampling event would occur in late October.
Treatment Wells Sampled
We have recently approached you about sampling of non-monitoring wells . Previously, such sampling was not
performed because treatment wells are not typically sampled . However, with the system shut off, these wells will
not have been treatment wells for 6 months . You had agreed to sampling treatment wells during the rebound
sampling even . n your previous ema ,, you ed a sampling—alrofthe-treatment-welts, due to the tack
of funding at the USTCF. In response to your comment about considering one treatment well sampling , we had
requested sampling of IW-3 ; For purposes of establishing the extent of contamination at the time of the rebound
sampling , we would like to propose two other wells (specifically, wells IW-6 and/or IW-7); please note that the
treatment wells have never been sampled .
We will need your direction regarding which of these non-monitoring wells to sample during the late October 2009
"rebound" sampling event. Please confirm that all of the other details are acceptable to your office.
Thank You ,
Arron Wilder
Project Manager
Clearwater Group
510-307-9943 - office
510-590-1096 - cell
From: Arron Wilder
Sent: Tuesday, July 21, 2009 1 : 24 PM
To: 'Iduncan@sjcehd.com'
Cc: Olivia Jacobs; 'James Jacobs'; Sandy Young
Subject: FW: 1817 Fresno Ave, Collecting samples at iSOC wells
v9ai9nnv
