f Page 2 of 2
N
after the first week in October 2009 .
As concerns Treatment Wells Sampled : I never agreed to sampling treatment wells during the rebound
sampling event. Again , I have gone through all correspondence and the only thing I found which may have
you confused is in EHD correspondence dated February 17 , 2009 in which the EHD agreed to adding
remediation test wells SVE-1 and AS-1 to the routine events. As I stated in the previous email , I cannot
approve the additional expense of sampling all the ISOC wells in addition to the wells currently routinely
sampled, I do not think it is justified . IW-7 is located between AS-1 and MW-5B; results from it would be
redundant. IW-6 is not much further away. Perhaps you would prefer to sample IW-5 rather than IW-3,
either of these two will provide new information on the southern side of the plume, which I do see as useful .
It may even rule out the need for the planned monitoring well in that area.
So to summarize: The six month rebound test will end the first week of October 2009 . Following this, the
Third Quarter 2009 monitoring and sampling event will take place and will include sampling all site
monitoring wells (MW's), SVE-1 , AS-1 and your choice of IW-3 or IW-5. After this groundwater data is
received Clearwater will evaluate the need to restart the oxygen infusion system . Semi-annual monitoring
and sampling events will take place during the first and third quarters of subsequent years, and annual
events will take place during the third quarter of subsequent years.
Didn't mean to be so long winded, but hope this helps clarify things.
Lori Duncan, Senior REHS
San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department
Iduncan@sjcehd .com
(209) 468-0337 phone
(209) 468-3433 fax
9/29/2009
