Two
UST's were removed from the site in 1992. Based on the detections of petroleum hydrocarbon
contamination in the soil beneath the tanks , an investigation of the lateral and vertical extent of
the impact, to both soil and groundwater, was required . An investigation has proceeded since
that time; groundwater remediation by oxygen infusion was initiated on August 8, 2004.
9 In the SCM Clearwater recommends additional investigation of the lateral extent of soil
contamination down-gradient of onsite well MW-5B. The EHD does not agree with this
recommendation . No soil contaminationwasreported-in the down-gradient,-offsite borings for
either MW-7 or MW-8. The EHD considers that this data provides a down-gradient maximum
extent of impacted soil .
In correspondence dated April 6 , 2009 the EHD approved conducting a rebound test of the
oxygen infusion system with the condition that semi-annual groundwater monitoring and
sampling of wells AS- 1 , MW-5-B, MW-7 and MW-8 be conducted during the third quarter of
2009 . All other site monitoring wells are to be sampled annually. Following the six-month
operational hiatus of the oxygen infusion system, Clearwater will evaluate the need for
additional remediation of the site.
If you have any questions please call Lori Duncan at (209) 468-0337 .
Sincerely,
Int
Lori Duncan, REHS Nuel C.
