01 February 2012
AGE-NC Project No. 11-2049
advanced surrounding the UST area to depths between approximately 25 feet below
surface grade (bsg) and 30 feet bsg. Three soil borings will be advanced in the dispenser
area; one soil boring will be advanced in the location of each fuel dispenser to depths of
approximately 10 feet bsg. Boring locations may be modified in the field depending on site
conditions. Approximate boring locations are illustrated in Figure 2.
Borings will be advanced using a PowerProbe direct-push drill rig. Soil samples will be
collected from each boring at five-foot intervals. According to recent information available
on the State of California Geotracker website, ground water at the site likely occurs
between 25 feet and 30 feet bsg. Grab ground water samples will be collected from each
boring advanced in the UST area.
Soil and grab ground water samples will be submitted to a California Department of Public
Health (CDPH)-Certified laboratory and selected samples will be analyzed for:
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline and diesel(TPH-g and TPH-d)
in accordance with EPA-method 8015-modified; and
• Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in accordance with EPA-method 82606;
Upon completion of the field work and receipt of laboratory analysis, a brief report will be
prepared. The report will be reviewed and signed by a California Professional Geologist.
PROBE BORING ADVANCEMENT
Probe borings will be advanced using a truck-mounted PowerProbe 9600 direct-push
probing unit equipped with 1.25-inch probing rods. The Geoprobe advances soil probe
borings using a hydraulic hammerto drive soil and ground watersampling tools to specified
depths.
SOIL SAMPLE COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS
Soil samples will be collected at discreet five-foot intervals using a 1.45-inch Geoprobe soil
sampling assembly loaded with four six-inch long stainless steel sleeves. Upon sample
retrieval, the ends of a selected sleeve will be covered with Teflon sheets, capped and
sealed with tape.
Appropriately sealed and labeled samples will be placed in a chilled container under ice
and transported under chain-of-custody procedure to a CDPH-certified laboratory. Each
sample sleeve will be labeled with the boring designation, depth, time, date and sampler's
Advanced Geo Environmental,Inc.
