Larry's Auto Page 2
308 North Grant Street May 3, 2012
Stockton, California 95202
responded by letter dated 05 August 2011 and clarified that soil gas samples should not be
collected in the area where the SVE system was currently in operation, and directed an
evaluation of the potential threat from vapor intrusion in the area of the warehouse (near
MW-5) be submitted to the EHD by 01 November 2011. The EHD received a response to this
directive from AGE by email dated 29 February 2012 in which AGE stated that "Site
information, particularly with non-impacted soil sample data at five feet and low concentrations
of only TPH at a depth of ten feet, does not justify additional soil vapor sampling." AGE
further stated that "Your office can issue a directive for a soil vapor sampling near the
southern UST area and AGE will prepare (a) work plan for the RP (responsible party) to install
some point near the UST or building."
The EHD has directed the submittal of a work plan to collect soil gas samples in the area of
MW-5 (southern UST area) for over two years, to no avail; and since April 2010, the EHD has
directed the submittal of a feasibility study to identify a remedial technology capable of
mitigating TPH contamination near MW-4 and MW-8, and the Work Plan submitted in April
2012 still does not address this issue. To resolve the soil gas collection issue and move
forward with a work plan to remediate the southern area of your site, near MW-4 and MW-5,
the EHD has scheduled a meeting with you for 22 May 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at our new office
building at 1868 East Hazelton Avenue, Stockton, California. Please notify the EHD if this
date and time are not convenient for you. At this meeting we can discuss possible solutions to
the problems and set a schedule to follow to get your site closed.
If you have any questions, please contact Vicki McCartney at (209) 468-9852 or by e-mail at
vmccartnev(c)sicehd.com.
Sincerely,
Victoria L. McCartney, REHS Nuel C. Henderson, Jr., PG
Senior Registered Environmental Health 4ecialist Engineering Geologist
c: Mr. William R. Little, PG, Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc., 837 Shaw Road, Stockton,
California 95215
Mr. James L.L. Barton, PG, California Regional Water Quality Control Board Central
Valley Region, 11020 Sun Center Drive, Suite 200, Rancho Cordova, California 95670
