THOPA
ENVIRONMENTAL
2.1 FACILITY DESCRIPTION
De Rollo Mazda is shown to scale, along with property lines on Figure 2. The facility
is the former location of De Rollo Mazda. The facility was used to sell and service
automobiles.
2.2 PROJECT HISTORY
De Rollo Mazda contracted North Cal Construction to remove a 5000 gallon gasoline
tank and a 300 gallon waste oil tank. Both tanks were located on the east side of the
Facility (Figure 2). North Cal' Construction removed the tanks pursuant to SJHD
underground tank closure requirements in accordance with North Cal Construction's
proposal dated August 5, 1988. The following procedures have been performed:
■, o Obtained required permits (Approved September 27, 1988)
U Removed tanks
a. One 5000 gallon gasoline fuel tank
b. One 300 gallon waste oil tank.
O Collected preliminary selected soil samples as required by SJHD
r, underground tank closure regulations.
o Analyzed samples pursuant to SJHD tank closure regulations.
o Lined excavations with 6 mil visquene and backfilled with native soil.
The soil samples collected from beneath the 300 gallon waste oil tank were analyzed for
benzene, toluene, xylene, ethyl benzene (BTX&E), total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH),
CL, HC, metals, and PCB's. The laboratory results reported non-detectable levels or
below state action levels for these constituents. These laboratory results are shown in
TABLE 1 of Appendix A.
The soil samples collected from beneath the 5000 gallon gasoline tank were analyzed for
benzene, toluene, xylene, and ethyl benzene (BTX&E); total petroleum hydrocarbons
(TPH); ethylene dibromide (EDB); and tetra ethyl lead (TEL). The results of these
laboratory reports indicate the presence of low boiling point hydrocarbons above state
action levels for TPH, toluene, and xylene at the sampling location described as "Grant
& Miner Avenue #1 Fill End". The sampling location described as "Grant & Miner
Avenue Mazda #2 Opposite Fill End" indicate concentrations of BTX&E, TPH, EDB,
and TEL below state action levels. The small amount of TEL present may be attributed
to background inorganic lead native to the soil. These laboratory results are shown in
_
TABLE 1 of Appendix A.
r 3
