purging process Samples were then collected after the reading became
stable The purged waters in wells MW-1, MW-2 and MW-3 were
observed to be cloudy
7.4 Groundwater Sampling
Groundwater samples were obtained with a disposable plastic bailer The plastic
bailer was lowered into the well on a string, allowed to fill up and pulled to the
surface Observations were made for floating product, sheen and odor Water was
decanted slowly from the bottom of the bailer into clean glass containers with caps
lined with teflon septa provided by the analytical laboratory Each bailer is
dedicated to only one well and discarded after use One amber-colored, one-liter
bottle was filled with groundwater samples from each well for analysis of TPH as
hydraulic fluid along with 3 polyethylene containers (one 500 mil Polyethylene
container and two 1-liter containers) for general minerals analysis The sample
containers were filled to overflowing to eliminate headspace and to prevent volatile
organics from coming out of solution The water sample containers were labeled,
double-bagged in plastic bags, entered into a chain of custody form and placed on
ice in a portable cooler The samples were delivered the same day in a chilled
condition with the chain of custody to the laboratory for analyses No indications
of contamination such as odor or sheen were observed during sampling Sampling
was performed under the oversight of Steven Sasson of the SJCPHS
7.4.1 Groundwater Sample Analytical Results
The groundwater samples collected from monitoring wells MW-1, MW-2
and MW-3 were analyzed for TPH calibrated as hydraulic fluid in
accordance with modified EPA Method 8015 All analyses were conducted
by Curtis & Tompkins in Berkeley, California Detailed laboratory
analytical results with QA/QC documentation are provided in Appendix 1X
The laboratory analytical results did not detect TPH as hydraulic fluid in
the samples analyzed Specific sample data are as follows
CRC Environmental Risk Management inc Project k 3620-001.4
George Bravante Receiver 2233 Grand Canal Boulevard
January 19 1995 12 Stockton California
