As a consequence, the budget shows an unusual high
cost for project planning and work plan preparation. The charges will not be repeated for each
project needing this type of characterization work, because now we understand what SJCEHD
needs to accomplish the task of risk evaluation.
In planning for this next work we have developed:
• a summary of the work completed to date,
• a proposed direction of the project from this point,
• a proposed mechanism for bidding work for the USTCFP.
• a tentative schedule for implementing the work.
Summa +r5 of Work to Date
The process of evaluating the site for the lateral and vertical extent of soil impacted by gasoline
began after the underground storage tank was removed in November 1994. In February 1995
GTI was contacted to perform the investigative work. The initial work pian (dated March 14,
1995) proposed 4 boreholes be drilled around the former tank location and the report of that
work was prepared on May 12, 1995. These boreholes showed that the soil plume had been
defined to the south and the west, but not to the north and east.
