385 Grant Line, Tracy
Page 2
MTBE.was detected in the soil samples from MW1 and MW2 using EPA Method #
8260A. Water samples collected from all three monitoring wells in June 2000
evidenced MTBE contamination.
Groundwater samples were collected from the three monitoring wells in October
2000. The analytical results of those samples indicate much lower
concentrations of MTBE in the groundwater than did the June 2000 results.
Table 2 in the December 7, 2000 report shows the results of MW2 and MW3
water samples in reverse of what the laboratory data sheets show. Please
correct this information.
PHSIEHD requested a work plan to determine the lateral and vertical extent of
the contamination at this site. URS has proposed installation of two additional
monitoring wells north and northeast of MW1 to investigate the lateral extent of
the contamination. PHSIEHD requires that the vertical extent of the
contamination be investigated'as well. At least one boring/monitoring well must
be installed downgradient of the former UST location and the investigation must
continue below the 25 feet depth of confirmed soil contamination. A discretely
screened well to define the vertical extent of the contamination should be
installed. ,
A work plan to investigate the lateral and vertical extent of contamination in soil
and groundwater should be submitted to PHSIEHD by April 1, 2001.
if you have any questions contact me at (209) 468-3449.
Donna Heran, REHS
Director of Environmental Health r
Margaret agorio, Supervising REHS
Unit IV/LOP
C: CVRWQCB — Marty Hartzell
URS — Philip Cox
Albert & C Navarra
i
