Grant Line Rd.
Tracy, CA .
San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division
(PHSIEHD) has reviewed our files including the "Letter Report for Environmental
Services" dated September- 14, 2000, and the "Groundwater Monitoring Report"
dated December 7, 2000, prepared by URS Corporation for the above referenced
site.
In March 1999 four soil borings were drilled at the site. The soil samples
collected from 9.5 -- 10 feet below surface grade (bsg) in all the soil borings were
analyzed for Benzene, Toluene, Ethyl-benzene, Xylene (BTEX) and Total
petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPH-g). The soil samples collected from
24.5 — 25 feet bsg in all the soil borings were analyzed for BTEX, TPH-g and
MTBE. MTBE was evidenced in all of the 24.5—25 feet soil samples.
Groundwater samples were also collected from the borings. The analytical
results of the water samples collected from the soil borings using EPA Method
8260 also showed MTBE contamination.
i
A 12,000 gallon gasoline underground storage tank (UST) was removed from this
site on May 18, 2000. Soil samples were collected from the excavation and
stockpiled soil. A grab water sample was collected from the water in the UST
excavation. The analytical results from these samples have not been submitted
to PHSIEHD. In addition; the UST tracking record and rinseate manifest have
not been submitted to PHSIEHD. The September 14, 2000, report states that the
soil sample results were non detect. Submit all the above documentation to
PHSIEHD immediately. The disposition of the stockpiled soil has not been
clarified. This should be discussed in the next quarterly report prepared for this
site.
To assess the lateral extent of groundwater impact three monitoring wells were
installed at the site in June 2000. The monitoring wells were drilled only to a
depth of 15 feet bsg. Soil'samples were collected and analyzed from 6 feet bsg.
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
1
