n KLEINFELDER
Drilling
We propose to drill the test boring to a total depth of approximately 400-feet bgs. The
test boring will be drilled using the dual tube mud rotary method, which enables the
collection of representative lithologic samples from the current drilled interval.
Once the test boring is completed, a geophysical survey of the boring will be completed
to correlate the observed drilled cuttings collected with the recorded subsurface
lithology. The geophysical log suite will include:
• Resistivity (short and long-normal)
• Spontaneous Potential
• Spectral Gamma
Zone Testing
Following the review of the E-Log and lithologic samples up to three zones will be
identified for further individual zone testing. Each zone chosen will have a temporary
well constructed within specified boundaries. Each zone will be developed for up to 12-
hours to remove the drilling fluid and sediment that has settled into the well bore and
increase the clarity.
After each individual zone has been developed, a water sample will be collected and
analyzed for the following constituents:
• General minerals, general physical parameters (e.g. pH and electrical
conductivity), and specific metals such as arsenic and uranium.
Stantec Consulting, Inc. will assist Kleinfelder in locating the test boring location. A
permanent well will not be installed at this time.
TASK 4 — RECOMMENDATIONS FOR NEW WELL LOCATIONS AND WELL HEAD
PROTECTION PLAN
New Well Location Recommendations
Based on the review of the regulatory agency files regarding the contamination plume at
the ARL, existing well logs for the site, and the completion of the exploratory boring and
test well we will make recommendations for the locations of new groundwater wells for
uses of potential non-potable supplies at the site. The recommendations will be made
to PCCPML and submitted formally in a subsequent report.
02001 PROP.ENV/ST05P346R/JDZ:ly Page 5 of 12
©2005 Kleinfelder, Inc.
