RECEIVE®
MAR 2 S 2011
Mike Infurna
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department ENVIPRERMITISERV PENMENTAL RMIT/SERVICES
600 East Main Street, Stockton, CA 95202
RE: Additional Boring Locations 9 oo 1
Dear Mr. Infurna,
Parsons is pleased to provide San Joaquin County Environmental Health Division this letter of
notification for continuing work at the former Tracy Manufactured Gas Plant Site, Tracy, CA.
This work will continue efforts to delineate remedial areas of impact outlined in the Draft Final
HRA/RAW previously approved by DTSC. The following is a detailed description of the
anticipated work to be completed.
SCOPE OF WORK
The scope of work includes the following: hand augering and environmental sampling of 13
boring locations for delineation of environmental impacts; this task is described in detail below.
Implementation of Supplemental Geotechnical and Environmental Borings
Based on the Site walk previously referenced, there are six areas of impact (AOI-1 through AOI-
6) that will benefit from further delineation; thus, reducing the future cost of remediation.
Boring locations are presented on the attached figure. The following general procedures will be
implemented at the Site to facilitate this scope of work:
• Obtain boring permits from the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Division;
• Notify Underground Service Alert a minimum of 48-hours in advance of invasive
operations;
• Provide geophysical clearance for each boring location and a 10 foot by 10 foot area
surrounding the boring location in case underground utilities interfere with placement of
the boring;
• Hand auger up to five feet in each boring location; and
Environmental Borings
To address the further delineation of areas of environmental impact in the six AOIs, the
following will be conducted:
AOI-1
• Two soil borings (AOIl-7 and A0I1-8) will be hand angered to a depth of approximately
3 feet below ground surface(bgs).
• Samples will be collected at 1 and 3 feet in each boring (depth of impact observed in on-
site boring B1-2) and will be analyzed for polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs)
using United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Method 8270C Selective
Ion Monitoring.
