However, in addition'to the
monitoring well proposed to the west of the tank pit area, another monitoring well must be installed to the
north-northeast of monitoring well MW#4. This well is needed to monitor the groundwater plume in this
downgradient direction.
A brief workplan showing the construction specifications of the proposed monitoring well must be submitted
prior to the initiation of the work. The proposed work can be completed under your active permit(#9370279)
as long as the work will be performed by the C-57 license holder to whom the permit was originally issued.
Accurate groundwater gradient and flow direction data is essential for determining contaminant plume
migration patterns as well as for determining appropriate corrective action responses. Monthly groundwater
level measurements may provide a better indication of groundwater flow patterns than the quarterly
measurements. Monthly groundwater measurements should be initiated if future groundwater data suggests
a divergent groundwater flow ;pattern.
If you have any questions regarding this letter, please contact Linda Turkatte, Senior REHS, of my staff at
i
(209) 468-3441.
Jogi Khanna, M.D., M.P.H.
Health Officer
t
Donna Heran, REHS, Program Manager
Environmental Health Division
I
LAGLT:lb
c: CVRWQCB-Beth Thayer
c: John and Francine Sallaberry
c: Parker Environmental-Jim Parker
i
A Division of San Joaquin County Health fare Services
