Mr John Johnson <br /> Project 113-26-03 <br /> October 12, 1999 <br /> Page 2 <br /> A passive skimmer was installed :n MW-4 by Parker Environmental Services on <br /> February 11, 1993, to collect floating product The skimmer allows gasoline to enter <br /> through a selective membrane that keeps water out Ms Linda Turkatte, a Health <br /> Specialist from San Joaquin County, was present during the installation No free <br /> product was collected in the skimmer during the monitoring period, and no visible <br /> sheen or free product was apparent in MW-4 during this time <br /> Groundwater sampling was performed by Parker Environmental in February, May, <br /> August, and November, 1993 Drums with purge and wash water from the first 2 <br /> quarters were removed on August 3, 1993 The liquid was taken to Gibson Pilot <br /> Plant in Redwood City by Erickson, Inc of Richmond, using a hazardous waste <br /> manifest <br /> Groundwater flow direction was N37°E in November, 1993, compared with WE in <br /> August, 1993, and N16°E in May, 1993 <br /> Groundwater monitoring was performed on September 9, 1994 The passive <br /> skimmer again contained no product and was removed from MW-4 Average depth <br /> to groundwater was 6 78 feet, with flow to the north-northwest Groundwater <br /> monitoring was performed on December 22, 1994 and March 15, 1995 Groundwater <br /> sample results are presented in the attached table entitled, "Cumuhtave Table of <br /> Well Data and Analytical Results " <br /> Between August and October 1995, 12 (14) soil borings were advanced on and off site <br /> and four groundwater monitoring wells were installed around the UST facility On <br /> September 20, 1995 the four new wells were developed Development was <br /> accomplished by mild surging and pumping of groundwater A plastic submersible <br /> pump was lowered into the well to the bottom, then raised and lowered over the <br /> screened interval while pumping from various levels The surging was intended to <br /> loosen and suspend residual soil within the well and draw residual fines from the <br /> sand pack into the well Groundwater was pumped at about 15 gallons per minute <br /> (gpm) until about 45 gallons had been removed from each of MW-5, 6, and 7 Fifty <br /> five gallons were pumped from MW-8 At each well the water was noted to be clear <br /> or clearing The groundwater was pumped into labeled drums <br /> Parker Environmental Services, 190 East 7th Street, Pittsburg, CA 94565-2317 <br /> Phone (925) 439-1024 Fax (925) 439-2566 <br />
