a
INTRODUCTION
This report presents the results of our Phase II Environmental Site
Assessment which included the installation of four exploratory soil
borings and three groundwater monitoring wells, soil sampling from
each of exploratory and monitoring well borings, groundwater
sampling from each monitoring well, and laboratory analyses of soil
and groundwater samples. The objective of this investigztion was
to better define the lateral and vertical extent of petroleum
hydrocarbons in the soils in the vicinity of the previously removed
waste oil tank and to determine if the groundwater has been
impacted by petroleum, hydrocarbon contamination.
Site Location
The subject site is located at 275 Grant Line Road in the east-
central portion . of the city of Tracy, San Joaquin County,
California. The property is located at the northwest corner of the
intersection of Entrada Way and Grant Line Road. The location of
the site is indicated in Figure 1, Site Location ?dap.
Background/Site Histor
The current business activity at the site is a U-Haul truck and
moving equipment rental facility. The property is owned by Pestana
Trust. It was reported to TECO that the site was formerly used as
a retail. gasoline service station. It was also reported that four
underground fuel storage tanks and approximately 60 feet of product
line formerly existed at the site. According to an interview with
the current tenant, the underground storage tanks were removed some
time in 1971. There were no known details of the tanks' removal,
contents, or disposal, nor were there any as--built plans available
for review by TFCC personnel.
On July 18, 1989, TECC collected four soil samples at the
soil/groundwater interface along the perimeter of the estimated
former location of the underground storage tanks. The report of
findings entitled "Limited Subsurface Soil Investigation, 275 Grant
Line Road, Tracy, August 21, 19891" summarizes the results of the
work conducted at that time. The four soil samples were analyzed
for Total. Petroleum Aydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg) and Benzene,
Toluene, Ethylber:zene, and Xylenes (BTEX) . Analytical results
indicated concentrations of TPHg of 160 parts ger million (ppm)
and 130 ppm for two of the soil samples collected from near the
northeastern and northwestern corners of the building.
_
PAGE 4
215 GRANT LINE ROAD -- -
