The Department of Toxic
Substance Control has designated these soils as "hazardous waste."
In addition, soils with conceitrations of TPH in excess of 1000 ppm
are typically required to Y)e remediated by regulatory agencies.
The following is a list of soils found at the site that fall under
this category.
0 Sample SBI-9' 5100 ppm (TPHg)
6 Sample MW1-9' 1100 ppm (TPHg)
Soils containing petroleum hydrocarbons in excess of 100 ppm have
been identified es "designated waste" and may be required to be
remediated. Concentrations 'of petroleum hydrocarbons in excess of
100 ppm were detected in three soil samples in addition to those
mentioned above. The samples and concentrations are as follows:
® Sample SB2-9' 220 ppm (TPHg)
® Sample MW1-9' 360 ppm (TPHd)
d Sample MW3-5' 2.00 ppm (091 and Grease)
F Groundwater has also been impacted by petroleum hydrocarbon
contamination. Detectable concentrations of TPHg, TPHd, Toluene.
Xylenes, and Oil and Grease were detected in groundwater samples.
The following is a list of the pollutants detected in groundwater
samples:
s Sample WS-1 1500 ppb TPHg
380 ppb TPHd
6.0 ppb Toluene
2.9 ppb Xylenes
0.5 ppm Oil and Grease
• Sample WS-2 160 ppb TPHd
0.5 ppm Oil and Grease
The concentration of Toluene is below the Department of Toxic
Substance Control's Action Level. The concentration of Xylenes is
below the Maximum Contaminant Level established in Section 6444.5,
Title 22 of the California Code of Regulations.
