1
beneath was saturated, dense , light-brown silty clay
Groundwater was encountered at approximately 8 5 feet .
The soil profile encountered while advancing boring SBR-2
' consisted of 3 inches of asphalt underlain by inorganic ,
moist , greenish-gray clay exhibiting an odor consistent
with that of oil to 1 foot . Slightly moist , inorganic
' dark-colored clay exhibiting a slight odor of oil odor was
present to 2 feet . This was underlain by slightly moist ,
plastic , inorganic light-brown clay to approximately 4
feet . Moist , plastic , inorganic dark-brown clay was
' encountered between approximately 4 and 7 feet . Beneath
this layer was moist , plastic , brown inorganic clay with
olive-colored streaks to approximately 8 5 feet .
' Inorganic , saturated, plastic olive-colored clay exhibiting
a very strong odor consistent with gasoline was present
between 8 . 5 and 9 feet
' The soil profile encountered while advancing boring SBR-3
consisted of 3 inches of asphalt underlain by sand and
gravelly fill to 1 foot Dark olive-colored sandy clay was
present at 3 feet , becoming light olive-brown at 6 at 3
feet , and olive at 8 ft The soil was damp at 3 ft , dry at
6 ft , and very moist at 8 feet . Soils were stiff between
approximately 1 ft and 5 ft , very staff at 6 ft , and soft
at 8 ft Strong odor, consistent with that of fuel
hydrocarbons , was noted in the sample acquired at 8 feet
303 parts per million (ppm) combustible vapors were also
t present an this sample . Groundwater was encountered at
approximately 9 feet An odor , also consistent with that
of fuel hydrocarbons , was also present in the moderately
' turbid grab water sample acquired from SBR-3
I
The soil profile encountered while advancing boring SBR-4
consisted of 3 inches of asphalt underlain by sand and
' gravelly fill to 1 foot Black sandy to silty clay was
present at 3 feet , becoming olive-gray at 6 feet . The soil
was damp at 3 ft and 6 ft . Soils were stiff between
' approximately 1 ft and 5 ft , and very stiff at 6 ft
Medium to slight hydrocarbon-like odor was present between
1 and 7 5 feet 10 parts per million (ppm) combustible
' vapors were also present at 3 feet and 1 . 7 ppm vapors were
present at 6 feet . olive-yellow clayey sand was
encountered between approximately 7 . 5 feet and 10 feet .
This sand contained approximately 10% clay and was fine
' well sorted, subrounded, and medium dense . No hydrocarbon-
like odor was present in this layer Groundwater was
encountered at approximately 8 feet The moderately turbid
grab water sample acquired from SBR-4 was odor free .
r
The soil profile encountered while advancing boring SBR-5
1 consisted of 3 inches of asphalt underlain by sand and
gravelly fill to 1 foot olive-brown sandy clay was
' Page 5
E
