present at 3 feet , becoming light olive-brown at 6 feet
feet , and olive at 8 ft . The soil was damp at 3 ft , and at
6 ft , and moist at 8 feet . Soils were stiff between
approximately 1 ft and 7 ft , and soft at 8 ft . A slight
' odor , consistent with that of fuel hydrocarbons , was
present in the sample acquired at 8 feet 40 parts per
million (ppm) combustible vapors were also present in this
' sample Groundwater was encountered at approximately 9
feet A slight odor, also consistent with that of fuel
hydrocarbons , was present in the moderately turbid grab
water sample acquired from SBR-5
The soil profile encountered while advancing boring SBR-6
consisted of 3 inches of asphalt underlain by inorganic ,
' slightly moist , gray-black clay exhibiting an odor
consistent with that of oil to 1 foot . Slightly moist ,
inorganic dark-colored clay was present to 2 feet . This
' was underlain by slightly moist , plastic , inorganic light-
brown clay to approximately 4 5 feet . Slightly moist,
inorganic brown clay with greenish streaks was present
between approximately 4 . 5 and 6 5 feet . A faint gasoline-
like odor was present in this layer Moist , inorganic
olive-colored clay was encountered between approximately
6 5 and 8 5 feet . A gasoline-like odor was also present in
this interval Water saturated, dense, brownish silty clay
was present between approximately 8 5 and 9 feet
Imported gravel fill was encountered immediately beneath 3
' inches of asphalt at SBR-7 Although efforts were mae to
made to advance the boring through the gravel , the hole
would not remain open and the boring was abandoned, In
' consideration of observations made at other borehole
locations and the proximity of borings SBR-3 , SBR-4 , SBR-8 ,
and SBR-10 to SBR-7 , it is proposed that SBR-7 be deleted
t from the drilling schedule . Should PHS/EHD advise upon
review of this report that they wish samples acquired from
SBR-7 , EPM will return to the site and acquire samples by
excavating
1 The soil profile encountered while advancing boring SBR-8
consisted of 3 inches of asphalt underlain by sand and
' gravelly fill to 1 foot Light olive-brown sandy clay was
present at 3 feet , becoming olive at 6 feet feet and 8 ft
The soil was damp at 3 ft , moist at 6 ft , and wet at 8
' feet Soils were stiff between approximately 1 ft and 5
ft , firm between approximately 5 ft and 7 ft , and soft
between approximately 7 ft and 10 ft . A slight odor ,
consistent with that of fuel hydrocarbons , was present in
the samples acquired at 6 ft and 8 feet . 30 parts per
million (ppm) combustible vapors were present in the sample
acquired at 8 feet Groundwater was encountered at
approximately 8 feet A slight odor , also consistent with
that of fuel hydrocarbons , was present in the moderately
Page 6
