SANJ O A Q U I N Environmental Health Department
COU " rY
Complaint Record Daily Time and Activity Summary from 1/9/2019 to
1/9/2020 for COAZOOOH6 located at
17000 E H WY 120
Activity Date Recorded by
11/04/2019 Elena Manzo with EHD notified of an ammonia release at the wine group located PE 2546 SAEED
24 min at 17000 E HWY 120, Ripon, CA. at 2:40pm I obtained the Complaint info., and SC 544
called the reporting pary, Jeff Atkinson at(209)253-9977.
1 discussed the release with Jeff, and the following information was provided. The
release occurred on 11/03/2019 a little after 8pm. The release was discovered by
the Cellar manager while was working in the area. The Cellar Manager, reported
the release to the refrigeration manger immediately. The refrigeration operator
responded, and isolated the system. The release was coming from the seal for the
Ammonia Accumulation tank pump located outdoor in Area B. The system was
isolated and the release stopped. The amount of ammonia release was estimated
to be 15 lbs of release to the atmosphere, and calculation will be conducted later.
Incident investigation has not started yet. Release has not been reported to Cal
OES.
No exposure or evacuation due to the release.
I discussed with Jef to start the incident investigation within 48 hours of the
release, and to report the release to Cal OES. I advised that I may be at the
facility tomorrow morning for a follow-up.
Received the Cal OES spill report( CNTRL# 19-7086) at 3pm.
11/04/2019 9:45 AM Received page and a pink short term complaint form from Genesis PE 2546 MURO
60 min Martinez at the front desk. Jeff Atkinson, 209-253-9977 called in a fifteen pound SC 544
ammonia release that occurred at The Wine Group in Ripon on 11-03-19.
9:51 AM I called Jeff Atkinson for more information. Jeff reported:
-The ammonia release occurred due to a failed seal on suction accumulator on
the compressor.
- It was contained by isolating the valves and powering of the suction accumulator.
They then drained off liquid. The liquid was then put back into the system.
10:04 AM I called Jeff back to ask if there was an evacuation or if anyone was
hurt. Jeff said no one was hurt and there was no evacuation.
I generated a complaint on Envision Connect.
Completed a Prop 65 notification for the Wine Group. Took to supervisor for
approval. Then took to office staff for mailing.
