1
- 15 September 1995 —
AGE-NC Project No 95-0105
extent of the hydrocarbon-impacted soil was defined by sample SW-1 However, hydrocarbon-
impacted sods remains north of the former pump islands under Grant Line Road, west of tank
excavation"A"under Parker Avenue and southeast of MW-3 Due to structural constraints imposed
by Grant Line Road to the north, Parker Avenue to the west and the existing building/canopy to the
southeast, additional removal of the soils is not considered feasible
We recommend the installation of one soil boring (or direct push probing) west of the site within
Parker Avenue to further evaluate the western limit of hydrocarbon-impacted soil A second boring
or probing should be installed south of boring B 1 to delineate the southern lirut of the hydrocarbon-
impacted soil plume This additional data can then be used to perform a risk assessment modeling
analysis
5 2 HYDROCARBON-RAPACTED GROUND WATER
' Only low concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in monitoring well MW-3 during
the two monitoring penods in 1995 and in 1988 However, based on the northerly ground water flow
direction and the elevated hydrocarbon concentrations in grab water samples collected from bonngs
B 1 and B2, the dissolved hydrocarbon ground water plume has migrated beyond B2, potentially
further than the property limits The extent of thus plume has not been delineated
We recommend the installation of two additional monitoring wells to delineate the down-gradient
extent of impacted ground water Both wells will have to be installed off-site, along the north side
of Grant Line Road
6.0. LIMITATIONS
Our professional services were performed using that degree of care and skill ordinarily exercised by
environmental consultants practicing in thus or similar localities The findings were based upon
analytical results provided by an independent laboratory Evaluations of the geologuc/hydrogeologuc
conditions at the site for the purpose of thus investigation are made from a lunuted number of available
data points(i a monitoring wells, soil samples) and subsurface conditions may vary away from these
data points No other warranty, expressed or implied, is made as to the professional recommendations
contained in this report
7
1
