KLEIN FELDER
5 3 GROUNDWATER SAMPLING
Ground water will be removed from the hole constructed in each pit using a vacuum truck
Water will be removed until the hole goes dry twice or 1,000 gallons have been pumped
With permission of the Tracy Wastewater Treatment Plant, this pumped water will be
transported to their facility for disposal A 150-inch drive point with a 0 01-inch slotted
screen will be placed on the pad that was prepared by the backhoe and driven into the
ground until the tip is approximately 3 5 feet below the ground water surface This will
leave approximately 0 5 feet of screen above the ground water surface Since soils will have
' been excavated to just above the ground water surface, the chances of the drive point
carrying contaminates from shallower soils down into the ground water have been
' minimized One drive point will be installed per pit Blank casing will be attached to the
drive point and will extend to the ground surface This will allow additional samples to be
' taken after the pits have been backfilled Backfilling will not occur without approval of the
SJLHD Ground water samples will be collected from the wells using a 1-inch diameter
bailer Water will be purged from each well using a bailer until temperature, pH, and EC
readings have stabilized One sample will be collected from each well and will be
submitted under chain-of-custody to a certified laboratory and analyzed for total petroleum
Mhydrocarbons (by EXTN/GC-FID) and volatile aromatics (benzene, ethyl benzene,
toluene, and xylene) by EPA Method 602 All sampling equipment will be decontaminated
prior to sampling each well using a steam cleaner
1
113-88-915 8
