02 June 1997 <br /> AGE-NC Project No 95-0105 <br /> Page 2 of 1 I <br /> ' 2 3 MONITORING WELL INSTALLATION AND SAMPLING <br /> ' In September 1988, three ground water monitoring wells were installed by Kleinfelder, Inc <br /> Laboratory results of soil samples collected during the installation of monitoring well MW-3 <br /> confirmed the presence of hydrocarbon-impacted soil A copy of all soil boring logs for the well <br /> installations are included in Appendix A The analytical results of soil samples are summarized in <br /> Table 1 <br /> After installation, a ground water sample was collected from each well Low concentrations of total <br /> petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g), xylenes and ethylene dibromide (EDB) <br /> were detected in the sample from MW-3 However, petroleum hydrocarbons were not detected in <br /> ' soil or ground water samples collected from MW-1 or MW-2 <br /> ' Analytical results of the soil samples collected during the well installation and subsequent ground <br /> water samples were included in the Preliminary Assessment Report, dated 30 November 1988 and <br /> prepared by Kleinfelder, Inc <br /> 2 4 , DRILLING AND SAMPLING <br /> On 22 February 1995, two soil borings were drilled on the site under the supervision of Geological <br /> Audit Services, Inc (GeoAudit) Soil samples collected from the northern edge of the site and <br /> ' northeast of the canopy contained TPH-g and TPH-d at concentrations as high as 2,700 parts per <br /> million (ppm, reported as milligrams per kilograms) BTE&X was also detected at concentrations <br /> ranging up to 250 ppm The analytical results of soil samples are summarized in Table 1 <br /> ' Grab ground water samples collected from the site were found to contain TPH- at <br /> g concentrations <br /> of 20,000 parts per billion(ppb, reported as micrograms per liter) BTE&X were also present in the <br /> ' samples at concentrations ranging from 110 ppb (toluene) to`2,200 ppb (total xylenes) The <br /> analytical results of grab'ground water samples are summarized in Table 2 -Analytical Results Of <br /> ' Grab Water Samples <br /> Analytical results of the soil and grab ground samples collected during,the soil boring installations <br /> ' were included in the Quarterly Report-July 1995, dated 15 September 1995 and prepared by AGE <br /> r <br /> 2 5 EXCAVATION AND TRENCHING PROCEDURES <br /> Excavation of impacted soil was initiated on 17 April 1995, under the direction of'GeoAudit <br /> Approximately 75 cubic yards of soil were removed from north of the former pump islands Ground <br /> r i <br /> N � f <br />
