V. LANDOWNER INTERVIEWS <br /> A. Site usage <br /> The site is comprised of two parcels; (1) a 61 acre parcel (agricultural and dairy <br /> i <br /> area) formerly owned by Mr. Louis Furtado; and (2) a 1 acre parcel -(stockpiled fill area) <br /> formerly owned by Mr. J. Toste, Jr. <br /> Mr. Louis Furtado reported that the 61 acre parcel made up the northern portion <br /> ' of an approximately 145-acre dairy farm that was purchased by the Furtado family In 1935. <br /> f <br /> The dairy farm operated from 1935 until 1968 when the cows and farm equipment were <br /> sold. The Interstate 205 right-of-way was created In 1968, establishing the present <br /> southeast boundary of the site. In 1985, the site was sold to the Dividend' Development <br /> Corporation along with the remainder of the original dairy farm south of 1-205, <br /> Mr„Furtado stated that one, approximately 1400 gallon empty underground gasoline <br /> storage tank that was used for fueling; farm equipment is In place In the dairy area. One <br /> aboveground waste oil tank was removed from the dairy ranch area. An operating 80- <br /> foot deep :well In the dairy area provides domestle water for the 2 residential structures <br /> located there. The unlined ditch on the north side of the site conveys irrigation runoff <br /> water from lands to the east to disposal in the San Joaquin River, <br /> Until about 1969, barley, corn and alfalfa were grown in the agricultural area. <br /> These crops were fertilized with manure; no chemical fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides <br /> were used or stored on the property. <br /> From about 1969 to 1985, the 61 acre parcel was leased to Mr. Joe Madurga. <br /> Mr. Furtado stated that Mr. Madurga has grown alfalfa and corn. Mr. Madurga's phone <br /> number is no longer in service and he could not be contacted. <br /> R:604.09N - 6 - 6/1/89 <br />
